BRITANNIA WORKS, BEDFORD

A phased redevelopment of c.8.0 ha. of brownfield land on the edge of the town centre this project will provide a range of medium/high density houses and flats, for both private sale and affordable rental, set around a riverside pocket park and new squares. Construction of the first phase, comprising 107 units is complete. The Council has resolved to grant permission for the second phase comprising 260 flats in a range of four to eight storey buildings and an application for the third phase comprising 254 flats was submitted in April 2005.

The conservation area setting of this vacant site demanded that the development of 85 residential apartments and underground car park was undertaken in the style of a Regency terrace.
